Stevie Rayne lives a nomadic life. She travels the highways and byways with her dog, Bo. She was a partner in a large, prestigious law firm but she’s done with that high stress lifestyle. She likes the freedom of the road and plans on never setting foot in a courtroom again.
But plans have a way of going awry.
Stevie’s camping near a small desert town when a young man learns she’s there. He pleads with her to help his sister, Amy, who’s been arrested for murder. Stevie wants to say no, but his pleas touch her heart.
Working from her campsite, she takes on Amy’s defense. And soon learns that the prosecutor is gunning to become the county’s next District Attorney and is using Amy’s case to further his political aspirations.
The case draws media attention, which is not good because the stalker Stevie thought she left behind when she left Los Angeles is looking for her.
